Appeals Court pauses judgement on appeals by Sierra Leone’s former president, opposition leader

The Court of Appeal has reserved judgment for former President, Ernest Bai Koroma, and top officials of his former government including Dr. Samura Kamara who held different posts in that administration.

The three-judge panel chaired by Justice Ivan Sesay made the announcement on Monday 2nd October 2023 noting that the judgment will be delivered within two weeks and that notices will be served to all parties concerned.

Army leads Kenema hospital cleaning

Members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) over the weekend embarked on cleaning the Kenema Government Hospital, assisted by youth groups, the Fire Force, and the Bike Riders Union.

According to the Commander Second Infantry Brigade in Kenema, Colonel Alimamy Osman Kamara, they decided to undertake such a venture as part of the civil-military cooperation to help clean and beautify the central government hospital.

Sierra Leone's Foreign Minister wants training for colleagues

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Musa Timothy Kabba has said Ministers needed to be briefed on state protocols and that the new facility at the ministry will be at the centre of such an exercise.

Kabba made this observation to the Chief Minister, Dr. David Sengeh during his on the spot check at the Ministry on the 2nd of October this year.

 Kabba said they want to ensure that Ministers and MDA heads are trained so they could perform well during state functions.

A Prosecution Witness in the ongoing preliminary investigation into a case of murder at a magistrate court in Freetown has testified that the accused, Mohamed Jagitay lured the deceased, Ibrahim Jagitay from their residence on the pretext that they were invited to a party.
