SLeCAA works with AU to silence guns

Reacting to a press statement that was put out by Sierra Leone Commission on Arms and Ammunition(SLeCAA) recognizing September as Amnesty Month, the Commissioner of SLeCAA, Binneh K. Conteh has told Politico that Sierra Leone is working with the Africa Union (AU) to ensure that silencing the guns by 2030 is achieved.

EPA Engages Stakeholders on Climate Transparency

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has engaged stakeholders in a one-day regional Climate Transparency dialogue session in Kenema.

EPA’s Director of Climate Change, Emmanuel Tamba Nyaka said the engagement was to look at sustainable environmental management in Sierra Leone and related factors affecting the people.

Six months imprisonment for stealing a power bank

Justice Komba Kamanda has during Day Two of the Special Prison Court at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, sentenced Salieu Turay to six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing a mobile phone power bank.

The power bank was valued at 800 (Eight hundred) New Leones.

Sierra Leone Gov’t and opposition to begin talks

The Publicity Secretary of the opposition APC has said after a round of preliminary meetings with the Independent Commission for and National Cohesion and international mediators including the Commonwealth, his party was now waiting for a date to be set for substantive talks.

Speaking to Politico in an interview on Tuesday, Sidi Yayah Tunis said: “we have presented all necessary documents regarding the dialogue” and it is now up to the mediators to take the next steps.

School closed in Kenema after pupil dies

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE) has shut down the Emmanuel Modern Primary School in Kenema after one of the pupils fell to her death from the top floor of the school building.
