…but presidential fee remains the same
Ahead of the tabling in Parliament today of the Nomination Fees for candidates for November’s elections, the National Electoral Commission has announced a revision of nomination fees which were announced two weeks ago.
In a press released signed by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Christiana Thorpe, NEC has refused to reduce the fees for presidential candidates, which still stands at Le 100 Million as well as for Mayors and Chairmen of District Council.

The Open Society Initiative West Africa (OSIWA) on Friday presented a grant to the Ministry of Justice of Sierra Leone.
The results of the Sierra Leone Bar Exams for 2012 are out! They were published last week, barely a month after 105 candidates had sat to the exams, the largest number ever admitted since the school was established in 1990.
The National Youth Commission and the United Nations Development Programme in Sierra Leone on Sunday marked International Youth Day (IYD) at a ceremony held at the Lagoonda Complex in Freetown.

Sierra Rutile Limited has announced that in July this year it produced 10,551 tonnes of rutile and 2,059 tonnes of ilmenite, a new monthly record for the company which is 13% higher than the previous monthly production record set in December 2006, according to a press release from the company.
The release says the record production was achieved with “an unblemished safety record”.

The Southern Regional Office of the Anti Corruption Commission on Thursday engaged health workers, stakeholders and beneficiaries in Moyamba District on the free health care initiative.
Welcoming participants at a workshop in Taiama, Kori Chiefdom, the ACC District Coordinator for Moyamba, Umar Sesay said the meeting was a significant step in measuring the success and challenges of the free health care in his District. He assured that the ACC would ensure corruption became a thing of the past in the District.
