Port Loko parents angry with WAEC

Some aggrieved parents in the northern Sierra Leonean district of Port Loko have criticised the West African Exams Council (WAEC) for withholding the school-leaving WASSCE results of hundreds of their children. WAEC says the students had spied in the exams.

Nigerian president visits Sierra Leone today

Nigeria's president Goodluck Jonathan arrives today in the Sierra Leonean capital, Freetown less than three weeks before the country goes to the polls. The one-day visit is his first since he became president.
A State House source says he will be awarded one of the country's highest honours.
He will also meet with the electoral conmission and political parties, among others.
Nigerian troops led the West African intervention force, ECOMOG, which restored democracy in the country in 1998 and helped end the revel war.

“No run-off” - VP Sam-Sumana assures

Vice President Samuel Sam-Sumana on Tuesday assured supporters of his All People’s Congress Party at the Kenema Town field that there would be no room for a run-off in the November 17 polls.

World Bank denies endorsing Sierra Leone president

In a press release issued on 19 October the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development otherwise known as the World Bank has denied a statement attributed to President Ernest Bai Koroma that he had been endorsed by the Bretton Wood institution.
