Kono gets first ‘Pure Water’ company

After six weeks of operations in the eastern Kono district, management of the first water purification and wholesales company, Good Family, has formally launched its production facilities in Simbakoro, Nimikoro Chiefdom.
The programme manager of an international organisation working on water and sanitation in Bombali district, Inter Aid, described the quality of the water as being “up to international standard”.

The Director of Education at the Sierra Leone Labour Congress, Max Conteh has told Politico that Sierra Leone has the lowest wage in the world, with a minimum monthly wage of Le 21,000 (about $ 5). He said this after a press conference held on Wednesday at the Labour Congress office in Freetown.
Rodney Michael threatens court action

A candidate for the up-coming Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) presidential election, Rodney Michael has threatened to sue both the acting General Secretary of the FA, Abdul Rahman Swarray and its Public Relations Officer, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay for "false defamatory statements against my person and damage to my reputation".
US $ 4 Million for climate change
USD 4 million has been earmarked for the fight against climate change in Sierra Leone. This was disclosed at an UN organized validation workshop on the theme “Strengthening climate information and early warning systems in Western and Central Africa for climate resilient development and adaption to climate change – Sierra Leone”.
The $ 4 million is to run for a four-year span starting this year.
Accounts Committee probes Kenema district
The Public Accounts Committee in Parliament on Tuesday investigated several ministries, departments and agencies in Kenema District in relation to financial management reported by the Audit Service, Sierra Leone
The list of MDAs includes the Kenema Government Hospital, Ministries of Mines and Mineral Resources and Housing in the East, Provincial Secretary’s Office East, Kenema District Medical Office, Eastern Polytechnic and the Magistrate Court in Kenema.
