Sierra Leoneans graduate to compete for international jobs

The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray has said they would ensure  they prepare Sierra Leonean graduates to be able to compete in the  job market both locally and internationally.’

Swaray was speaking to Politico in an interview after the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s weekly press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Freetown on 17th October this year.

Argentine in court for alleged fraud

An Argentine National, Jose Castelluchio has appeared before a Magistrate Court in Freetown over an alleged fraudulent conversion of 700 grams of gold valued at ($47, 750) Forty Seven Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars.

The defendant, who appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road court No. 1 on Monday 16th October 2023, was also charged with conspiracy to commit felony.

13 years for migrant smuggler

 Justice Adrian Fisher has jailed a 22-year-old man for 13 years and ordered him to pay a sum of 81 thousand New Leones as compensation in 90 days, after finding him guilty of one count of Migrant Smuggling.

9 on remand for human trafficking

SLAJ discusses ‘Gendered Disinformation’

The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) with support from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) has discussed the roles of journalists in countering Gendered Disinformation in the newsroom.

The media training is part of efforts by SLAJ to raise understanding of gendered disinformation and proffer handy approaches among journalists in terms of addressing the issue.      

“I have come home” – Kandeh Yumkella tells SLPP

RSLAF graduates 33 Special Forces

Thirty-three (33) Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) personnel who successfully completed training for inclusion into the Forces Reconnaissance Unit (FRU) have graduated with a special passing out ceremony at the 15 Infantry Battalion Barracks in Lungi on Friday 13th October, 2023.

47 personnel of RSLAF were initially selected for the training into the elite FRU, but due to the rigorous and robust training regime, only 33 made it through.
