In order to advance the “Feed Salone’’ Flagship Programme and boost agricultural productivity, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) has committed to increase local food production.

It also aims to reduce dependence on food imports, reduce hunger, increase export earnings, create jobs and build resilience.

The Agriculture Ministry was one among several Ministries, Departments and Agencies that presented their annual budget at the Ministry of Finance on the 19^th of October 2023.

In a bid to widen the country’s reach on the Global stage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) is set to broaden Sierra Leone’s diplomatic and international political representation.

The ministry was presenting its annual budget to the Ministry of Finance, Freetown on the 20^th of October 2023.

 Zoonotic diseases are those spread from animals to humans. These diseases are spread through contact, poor or inadequate cooking, and through the air. Our activities as human beings have led to us encroaching on the natural habitat of animals.

 And that has had its consequences leading to us contracting diseases that were really rare in human beings. Zoonotic diseases spread from the meat we eat, domestic animals, and of course those animals in the forests.

Despite the progress made in the health sector, maternal and infant mortality in Sierra Leone remains one of the highest, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Focus 1000 Ahaji Bailor Jalloh. He stressed that more needed to be done to ensure a drastic reduction in the country.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has in a sensitization drive engaged traders across six districts in Sierra Leone on the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), and agreement on Special Economic Zone (SEZ Policy).

The programme which was held in Kenema on 18th October 2023 targeted traders from Bo, Pujehum, Kenema, Kono, Moyamba, and Kailahun Districts.

The Ministry officials spoke about the issue while presenting their 2024 budget allocation at the Ministry of Finance on the 17th of October 2023.
