SLPP national confab next week – JOB assures

The outgoing Chairman and Leader of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), John Oponjo Benjamin says the SLPP convention will hold as scheduled on 16 - 17 August this year.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Politico, Benjamin said they were hoping to get a successful and peaceful convention assuring that all arrangements had been made to ensure that outcome.

Hunter kills man for deer

Police in the southern district headquarter town of Bo are investigating a hunter, Alie Barrie, who allegedly shot and killed his co-hunter, Ali Koroma, while they were out hunting around Ngeindema village in the Bumpeh Gao chiefdom.

Works starts to review Sierra Leone’s constitution
The Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), Justice Edmund Cowan has appealed to its members to put Sierra Leone ahead of all other interests.
Speaking yesterday at the inaugural meeting of the committee, Justice Cowan said “We should be one. We should be united in whatever we do. We are individuals but our duty is to this nation…”
He went on that the 80-member committee should be mindful of “what we do here” urging that they should strive to “get the results the people want”.

Makeni to get paramedical school

Chairman of Bombali district council has told a meeting in Kamakwe that by October this year they will commence the construction in Makeni of a paramedical school to train professional nurses and offer other health courses at degree level.
John Shangai Koroma said all councils had a moral responsibility to enhance better primary and junior secondary school education, health facilities, ensure food security and promote transparency and accountability.

The Bombali district council is on outreach, holding its first meeting out of Makeni as part of its new plan to meet the people and discuss their activities with them.
In Kamakwe, the chiefdom headquarter town of Sella Limba, the council authorities brought together councillors, administrators and hundreds of people at the town Barrie.
