Magbass fraud case goes to High Court

The case of Samuel Thomas Bangura, former staff of Magbass Sugar Company who allegedly defrauded the company of the sum over Le 100 million has been committed to the high court in Freetown.

The accused, who was under preliminary investigation on two counts of larceny by servant and embezzlement, had been standing before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No 2 in Freetown.

IFAD accused of theft

Residents of Bangambaya Village in Sandor chiefdom, Kono district have accused the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of squandering over Le 38 million, funds meant for the construction of a warehouse and a drying floor.

The village headman, Kai Gboimakowa, told Politico that in 2010 the intergovernmental organisation approached them and identified their village for the construction of a grain store, warehouse and drying floor facilities.

PPRC mandate exceeds elections

Head of the Political Parties’ Registration Commission says the mandate of the commission is way above organising and regulating political parties to participate in elections.

Justice Tholla Thompson told journalists, at the close of a 5-day professional enhancement training organised by the United Nations for PPRC staff, that many people made lots of mistakes as far as the mandate of the PPRC was concerned.
