Businessman in court for “larceny, trespass”

A businessman identified as Karmish has appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba in Freetown for “larceny and trespass”.

The court heard that both the alleged larceny and trespass happened on 26th August 2023, at 13 City Road, Wellington in Eastern Freetown, and that the alleged stolen properties are worth NLe 200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand New Leones), property of another businessman, Alfred Richards.

18 certified Sierra Leone female migrants off to Saudi

Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security (MELSS) with the Human Resources Global Consultancy Sierra Leone Limited (HRG) sent 18 female migrants to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia yesterday, with a decent job promise.

The Minister of Labour , Employment and Social Security Mohamed Rahman Swaray, in bidding his farewell message to the migrants, said that they are on a legal, safe and dignified trip, as well as assuring them of a “decent work” in their endeavours.

Murder case thrown out

A magistrate in Freetown has discharged one Salamatu Conteh who was facing preliminary investigations for the alleged killing of one Musa Dumbuya because the prosecution failed to produce witnesses since the commencement of the investigation.

This ruling came on Wednesday 18th October 2023, after the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, asked for an adjournment saying that there were no witnesses.

Sierra Leone Govt and opposition resolve stalemate

The recent mediation between the Government of Sierra Leone and the main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC), saw an agreement reached that would ensure all political party supporters who were displaced due to election- related tension in their communities  be supported for resettlement.

They are to include those who were internally and externally displaced due to political intimidation, attacks and harassment in recent times.

The agreement was reached during the three-day dialogue 16 -18 October 2023 in Freetown.
