Western Area district coordinator, Isatu Koroma, has told Politico that the National Commission for Social Action, NaCSA has provided jobs for 80 youth with over Le71 million through the cash-for-work project at Tree Planting in Greater Freetown.

She said the project was the idea of World Bank and the Government of Sierra Leone through NaCSA to help young people afford their daily meal and to engage them in meaningful activities.

Live wires on Sunday evening cut from a faulty electricity pole in the east of Freetown, killing two people on the spot and leaving 25 others seriously injured and hospitalized at the Satellite Hospital at Rokupa.

Kadiatu Tunkara, 14, a class 6 pupil of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood primary school at Wellington and Sylvia Beatrice, a market woman, were electrocuted in a crowded business area at the Brima Lane market, east of Freetown.

Police in Kabala have arrested 24-year-old Yeabu Mansaray on allegations of infanticide. She is alleged to have killed her newly-born baby and wrapped her inside a plastic bag and dumped it by a stream.

Yeabu lived in Kodala village in Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom in Koinadugu district where she was in a relationship with one Samuel Sesay, a married man, following the death of her husband.

Sierra Leone Book Trust (SALBOT) has donated over 4,000 text books to the University of Sierra Leone at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) Tower Hill campus in Freetown.

Founder of SALBOT, Sallieu Turay, said “the books, which were carefully selected in line with curricular of the University of Sierra Leone, were made possible by our partners Books for Africa and former American Peace Corps volunteers to Sierra Leone”.
