Pujehun police recover missing gun

Police in Pujehun have confirmed the recovery yesterday of a missing AK 47 machine gun

that went missing on Friday 16 May with 30 rounds of ammunition.

It was found at the Holy Family Primary School, a stone's throw from the police station. Its disappearance had led to the detention of the OSD police officer to which it had been assigned.

$25,000 for Makeni Marathon

The Chief Commercial Director of the mobile phone company Africell says his company has donated US$25,000 worth of communication materials towards the 2014 Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon to be held in Makeni.

Joe Abass Bangura was speaking at the official launch of the Marathon at Africell Headquarters at Wilberforce in Freetown. He said they owed it as a responsibility to the country to help street children by providing support to ‘Street Child Sierra Leone’, who are the organisers of the marathon.

Parliament questions Audit Service

Members of Parliament yesterday asked why there were four Deputy Auditors-General as Audit Service Sierra Leone engaged parliamentarians at a pre-legislative hearing on the bill titled ‘Audit Service Act 2014’.

Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce said the appointment of the four was based on different responsibilities as they worked as a team and made decisions together even though she had the final say.
