By Politico staff Writer

The President of Women’s Forum Network Sally Ndimawa Adams has expressed her organization’s appreciation for the work carried out by the National Council for Civic Education (NaCCED).

She made the compliment whilst she and other senior members of the network visited the NaCCED head office at Steward Street in Freetown on 1st December 2021. She told the Chairman of NaCCED,  Kalilu Totangi  how they were particularly impressed  at NaCCED’s Civic Education exercises and  said that they are looking forward to working with the council in that all important area.

In his reaction, the NaCCED boss said he was pleased to receive such compliments from a women’s group. Totangi said their recognition of NaCCED’s operations was as a result of the hard work of every member of staff.  He assured the delegation that NaCCED would explore the possibility of partnering with women’s forum.

“I met your past president Madam Maude Regina Peacock when I was cutting my teeth as an activist”, Totangi recalled. He then went on to showcase the new Civic Text Books that his institution played a prominent role in their publishing and said they would soon be distributed to schools for use. “The books are already in the country from Ghana and the syllabus caters from class one up to JSS 3,”the NaCCED  chairman disclosed.

The women on behalf of their organization then made a symbolic meritorious award presentation to NaCCED through chairman Totangi. Women’s Forum Public Relations Officer, Tiana Alpha said the award should have been given some time ago but again noted it was better late than ever. President Julius Maada Bio’s government established NaCCED in 2019 to revitalize civic education of the populace that had become non-existent for decades. It is expected to create greater public awareness on the practice which would in turn foster national cohesion and development.
