Windfall for Pujehun health hospital

The Pujehun District Descendants Association, America Branch, through the District Council, has donated assorted drugs to the maternity hospital in Pujehun.

Presenting the donations to the Pujehun district health management team, the chairman of the district council Sadiq Silla said the gifts was as a result of the hard work of the health workers in the entire district, especially as demonstrated throughout the fight against the Ebola epidemic.

Silla stressed that the drugs were entirely meant for the maternity hospital. "This means we want to completely discourage maternal death," he said.
He boasted that the maternity hospital in Pujehun was the best in the entire country and noted that this had been the result of the “dynamic leadership of the district medical officer."

“Every facility that a maternity hospital requires is available … and let me tell you now that even to launder clothes there is a machine to do that."

The maternity clinic in Pujehun is managed by the charity Doctors with Africa, popularly known as CUUAM, also provided an ambulance for the border chiefdoms - Makpele and Sorogbeima, disclosed SIlla.

Plan has been put in place by the PDDA America branch to provide another ambulance for the maternity hospital, he further revealed, assuring the health sector of their maximum support as district stakeholders.

The district medical officer of the main government hospital in Pujehun, Doctor David Bome, commended both PDDA America and doctors with Africa for the kind gesture.

"We are going to make good use of the facilities we have and I assure you that there will be no more maternal death in the district," he said, calling on the district stakeholders to provide land in other to build school for nurse training and quarters.

The district medical superintendent, Doctor Artiba Kebbie, referred to the drugs as one of the best in the world based on its production factory. The health committee chairman of the Pujehun district council said the coming of the items was timely. "As we are approaching the raining season, the district health management team has also provided boats for the riverine communities in case their is any referral.
