With support from a US-based Access Care Inc, a local chemist in Sierra Leone has invested $ 2 million in the construction of an ultramodern health care centre at Mile 13 in the Western Area Rural District.
Abdul R. Conteh said he was undertaking such a project with the support of his wife, Aminata Conteh to help the people reduce the constraints faced by the people of Mile 13 and provide them with affordable health care service.
He said the facility contains a Nurses Station and reception, doctor’s office, four toilets, four examination rooms, three offices for hospital administration, a pharmacy, a laboratory, children’s ward, a male ward and a female ward”.
Conteh said they were receiving support from Access Care Inc., maintaining that their partner organisation recently shipped a 40-ft container with medical equipment like hospital beds, mattresses, blood pressure machines, stretchers, scales, disposable thermometers, tables, chairs, medical carts, wheel chairs, fridges, filing cabinets among others, to keep the clinic operational and keep it up to standards for the community people.
He said also underway was the construction of a theatre, staff quarters and additional admission wards for storage facilities, a laundry, a kitchen and bedroom apartments for doctors.
