The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Sierra Leone has in a press statement urged all teachers to get their COVID vaccination in the nearest centers across the country.

The statement noted that in line with the recent announcement by the National COVID Emergency Response Center (NaCOVERC) of the third wave of the coronavirus disease in the country, the teachers are part of the priority group for the COVID vaccination.

On the 17th of June 2021, NaCOVERC announced a range of measures and restrictions in a bid to curtail the spread of the third wave of the pandemic in the country. One of the restrictive measures was to deny access to all government buildings by those above 30 years that are yet to take the COVID vaccine.

“Please note that as per NACOVERC prescribed COVID-19 measures, only individuals with proof of at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccination will be allowed access into government Ministries, Department and Agencies,” the statement reads.

The first case of the virus in the country was reported on 31 March, 2021.  So far 87 people have died from 5, 155 people infected by the virus.3,368 people have fully recovered from the pandemic.
