The Management of the TransAir group, an airspace Travel Company has said that the Company will resume services by flying between Guinea and Freetown after they were brought to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials of the company made that statement on 10th March 2021 during a courtesy and familiarity visit to the Embassy of Sierra Leone in Guinea.
According to report from Sierra Leone’s the Press attaché in Guinea, Umaru Sitta Turay, the representative of TransAir Guinea, Madam Chami Shamel Samira in her statement explained that aircraft had started flying to Freetown two years ago but due to COVID19 and other unforeseen problems, the company was forced to stop flights to Freetown.
She said the flight is now scheduled to fly three times a week to Freetown through Conakry. She said “the flight will be Dakar-Conakry-Freetown- Conakry-Dakar and will be three times a week. We are concerned that there are no such local flights route in the region for the moment and for that reason will want to rescue the situation.”
She further expressed that the presence of the Ambassador and his team at the maiden flight will mean a lot and for that reason offered five seats to the Embassy on that day of maiden trip.
In his response, Ambassador Alimamy Bangura said “we are assuring you that you will be supported fully as far the Sierra Leone Embassy is concerned,” adding that it was an exciting moment to know that such a flight route will soon be realized. Ambassador Bangura stressed that Sierra Leone’s interest will be protected and that there will be a fair treatment to the TransAir Group.
TransAir will fly for the first time in two years on Saturday 13th March, 2021.
The TransAir visiting team included Madam Chami Shamel Samira, Representative of TransAir Guinea, Diatta Ablaye, Station Manager and Abdouramane Ba.
