A former Member of Parliament from Bo district has unveiled his “10 point plan to make Bo city a better place”. Speaking at a media cocktail in Bo, Hon Sualiho Koroma said he would work to “extend the colonial boundaries of Bo City to accommodate the current growth and development trajectory, improve revenue generation through the use of data and technology, promote a green environment and sustainable growth in specific areas including waste management and pollution control and climate change mitigation”.
Hon. Koroma said he would “reposition Bo to serve as the center for academic excellence, culture and the arts in Sierra Leone, strengthen public private partnership in service delivery, make Bo city a destination for domestic tourism, leverage ICT to make Bo a smart city and prioritize youth empowerment while attending to people with special needs and focus on gender relations through high quality middle level manpower training.
He said he served Bo city in parliament in 2012 on the ticket of the Sierra Leone People's Party but that he now wants to serve as a mayor and improve on the development initiatives he brought to Bo city during his time in parliament. He called on the people of Sierra Leone’s second city to consider his track record in public life in selecting the next mayor.
The chairman of the SLPP in Bo district, Mohamed E.K Ali said when Hon. Suahliho Koroma approached him about his intention to run for the mayoral seat, he told him that the people of Bo city would eventually decide his fate. He described Hon. Koroma as a development – oriented man. Alie, who is also the resident minister in the southern province, told the gathering that as a member of parliament, Hon. Koroma did extremely well in his constituency.
