SS Charity and partners support Sierra Leone fire victims

By Mohamed Foday Conteh

The Senkoun Sidime (SS) Charity in Guinea has partnered with Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation (JNJF) in Sierra Leone to donate medical supplies to the Wellington fire victims.

Over 3 tons of wound care supplies worth $ 30,000 were handed over to the government on Friday 12th November this year at the Connaught Hospital.

The Co-Director of JNJF, Jamil Jaward said that the items donated were actually meant for underserved hospitals and clinics in the country but that the urgency of the November 5th disaster prompted them to donate the items for those injured in the disaster.

The consignment comprised 200 boxes and 13 bags of wound care items.

He said they still plan to donate health materials to rural and underserved community hospitals and clinics in the country.

Jaward appreciated the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) for ensuring duty waiver was secured for the items. He also thanked the Sierra Leone Embassy in Guinea for supporting the movement of the items to the country.

He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador in Senegal Ibrahim Koroma citing his ‘immense’ support in helping them to access ministries and agencies.

The Head of Programmes JNJF, Osman Koroma said the collaboration between the NGOs from the Mano River Union (MRU) depicts solidarity in helping humanity in the sub-region, and affirmed their continued partnership with other organisations within the sub- regional member states.
