An OSD officer is being questioned by the Sierra Leone Police for the alleged murder of a certain David Kargbo of Allen Town in Freetown.

Police said the man died last month as a result of a gunshot wound he sustained from the suspect at Ojuku Junction, Allen Town.

According to Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police,John Sesay, at the Criminal Investigations Departmentthey had received a case file of an alleged murder from the Ross Road Police station. He said he had visited the crime scene with his team of detectives. He refused to specify what led to the shooting, adding that “the information I have so far is conflicting. But I will disclose whatever information I get when I shall have completed my investigations”.

He confirmed that so far exhibits regarding the matter included a pistol, one iron rod and a kitchen knife now in their custody.

“Having secured such exhibits, we have obtained statements from two independent witnesses and one relative of the deceased,” he said, adding that the pistol would be handed over to the police ballistics experts for examination.

He said he was working closely with the Connaught Hospital for an autopsy to be carried out on the deceased.

“After all of these, we intend to embark on neighborhood intelligence gathering to adduce more evidence,” he said and disclosed that the file would be ready for legal advice from the Law Officers’ Department within ten days.
