Sierra Leone’s parliament has in a letter summoned the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki Sawyer, the Chief Administrator, and other officials to a public hearing in the Committee room, on Friday 26th November 2021.
The invitation letter dated 22nd November 2021 requested the Mayor to present to the committee supporting documents relating to queries raised in the Auditor Report that includes the bank statements, payment vouchers, certificates of work completion relating to the 31 out of 49 projects claimed to have been completed by the council.
It also noted that the committee will also make a visit on Monday 29th November this year to clarify the 31 completed projects and the sites of the ongoing projects.
“Parliament also cautioned the council that failure to fulfill the above will constitute contempt of parliament will attract the necessary sanctions against you/ your institution,” it warns.
