Sierra Leone: Man remanded for alleged robbery

Magistrate Hannah Bonnie has ordered that 37-year old Festus Bob be remanded in the custody of the correctional services after he made his first appearance in court as part of preliminary investigations into a robbery charge.

Police prosecutors alleged that Bob, on Tuesday 2nd June, 2020, at Bawbaw Village in the Western Rural Area, conspired with other persons unknown to commit robbery with aggravation.

Prosecutors also alleged that Bob, on the same day, being armed with machete, robbed one Abdul Rahman Kargbo of several items with a total value of Le 47, 200, 000, 00. 

In the charge statement, the police also accused Bob of assaulting Kargbo, thereby causing actual bodily harm on him, contrary to section 47 of the offences against the persons Act of 1861.

Bob, a business man, was represented by lawyer Hindolo M.  Ngevao.

Lead persecutor, ASP I. S. Mansaray, said that owing to unavoidable circumstances, his witnesses were not present to testify and asked for an adjournment.

The matter comes up again on the 17 June 2020.
