A statement from the finance ministry says Government will start paying salaries to all public sector workers tomorrow, Friday 12 September ahead of the three-day lockdown.
This comes amid concern that it will be difficult to stock up on food for three days with salaries unpaid.
The same release also says the World Bank yesterday disbursed US$ 6 million "as emergency support" towards the fight against Ebola.
Provided under its existing reproductive and child health project, the funds will support "critical activities identified in the national response plan...as approved by the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
16 of the 20 ambulances which arrived last week were paid for from the Ebola emergency response account at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank with the procurement process for an additional 20 regular ambulances, 10 specialised ambulances, and 20 hospital vehicles being finalised.
With the World Bank fund, the UN World Food Programme is also said to be finalising plans "to buy an additional 20 ambulances, 38 light vehicles and 16 mortuary vehicles".
