In reaction to social media and website reports about the imposition of a ban on short period visas by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Authorities against 20 African countries including Sierra Leone, the country’s Embassy in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, has provided information over what has become a topical issue in the last few days.
The Sierra Leone Mission in the Middle Eastern country of UAE said ‘’it has Not received any information on same from official sources in the UAE and therefore considers the said report being circulated as false and misleading’’.
The embassy also went to state that the UAE recently introduced series of visa reforms that saw a reduction of the duration of a tourist visa from three months to two. The Sierra Leone embassy has therefore encouraged people to go ahead with their plans to travel to the UAE whether on tourism or business purposes.
The earlier report of a visa ban had caused quite a stir here in Sierra Leone, as UAE is becoming a popular destination for many Sierra Leoneans for business.
