Leones Stars head coach, John Keister has called up 13 foreign based players to join the squad ahead of the Mauritania friendly next month. The names of the players were announced on the Sierra Leone Football Association’s Facebook page over the weekend.
The 13 players include Queens Park Rangers Defender Osman Kakay, who recently signed a contract extension with the English side.
Captain Umaru Bangura, who plays in Switzerland with FC Zurich, was also called, whiles other experienced players like Kwame Quee, Mohamed Medo Kamara and Rodney Strasser are all part of the cut.
The 13 players will join a group of 31 home based players that have been training in Sierra Leone. All 13 and some of the home based players are expected to be part of the 2021 AFCON Qualifier double with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, which comes around in November.
The national team are expected to camp in Makeni for some intensive training in the coming days.
