SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (19/07/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 2.72%, 4.55% and 4.79% increase in COVID-19 total infections, deaths and recoveries respectively over the week, from July 11-18, 2021.

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was higher compared to Benin (0.21%), Burkina Faso (0.22%), Cape Verde (0.91%), Ivory Coast (0.72%), Ghana (1.34%), Guinea (1.85%), Guinea-Bissau (2.64%), Mali (0.33%), Niger (0.63%), Nigeria (0.47%), Togo (2.60%), the Manor River Union or MRU (1.39%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (1.87%), Europe (1.72%), North America (0.95%), South America (1.69%), Asia (2.36%) and the world (1.84%). However, percentage increase in total infections was higher in Gambia (5.22%), Liberia (4.17%), Senegal (10.36%) and Africa (4.74%) compared to Sierra Leone.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total deaths was higher compared to Benin (1.90%), Burkina Faso (0.60%), Cape Verde (2.08%), Ivory Coast (0.63%), Gambia (1.62%), Ghana (1.38%), Guinea-Bissau (2.86%), Liberia (2.78%), Mali (0.38%), Nigeria (0.19%), Senegal (2.02%), Togo (3.01%), MRU (2.81%), ECOWAS (1.22%), Africa (4.00%), Europe (0.54%), North America (0.48%), South America (1.66%), Asia (2.53%) and the world (1.34%). Percentage increase in total deaths was higher in Guinea (5.64%) compared to Sierra Leone. Niger recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Also, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was higher compared to Benin (1.01%), Burkina Faso (0.17%), Cape Verde (0.87%), Ivory Coast (0.67%), Gambia (1.44%), Ghana (0.72%), Guinea (0.68%), Guinea-Bissau (1.76%), Liberia (4.52%), Niger (0.76%), Nigeria (0.15%), Senegal (2.19%), Togo (1.25%), MRU (1.00%), ECOWAS (1.05%), Africa (4.76%), Europe (0.60%), North America (0.72%), South America (2.47%), Asia (1.83%) and the world (1.49%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was higher in Mali (0.21%) compared to Sierra Leone.
