SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (12/02/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.37% and 1.33% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total cases was lower compared to Benin (8.75%), Burkina Faso (1.03%), Cape Verde (0.64%), Ivory Coast (0.91%), Ghana (0.93%), Guinea-Bissau (1.65%), Niger (0.76%), Nigeria (1.56%), Senegal (1.60%), Togo (2.00%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.62%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (1.27%), Africa (0.69%), Europe (0.92%), North America (0.74%), South America (1.01%), Asia (0.59%) and the world (0.80%). However, percentage increase in total cases in Guinea (0.18%) and Mali (0.27%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Gambia and Liberia recorded zero increase in total cases.

Senegal (3.34%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Benin (1.82%), Cape Verde (0.47%), Ivory Coast (2.42%), Ghana (2.12%), Niger (0.60%), Nigeria (1.73%), MRU (0.97%), ECOWAS (1.61%), Africa (1.30%), Europe (1.49%), North America (1.49%), South America (0.97%), Asia (0.49%) and the world (1.22%). Burkina Faso, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (5.87%), Nigeria (2.02%), Senegal (2.08%), Togo (2.96%), ECOWAS (1.36%), Europe (1.55%), North America (1.71%) and South America (1.45%). Percentage increase in total recoveries in Burkina Faso (1.16%), Cape Verde (0.95%), Ivory Coast (0.48%), Ghana (0.67%), Guinea (0.06%), Guinea-Bissau (0.21%), Mali (0.48%), Niger (0.60%),  MRU (0.38%), Africa (1.04%), Asia (0.54%) and the world (1.27%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Gambia and Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
