Sierra Leone recorded 7.91%, 1.65% and 0.66% increase in COVID-19 infections, deaths and recoveries respectively, from December 19, 2020 to January 3, 2022.
Percentage increase in COVID-19 infections over the period was higher in Sierra Leone compared to Benin (0.11%), Burkina Faso (5.76%), Cape Verde (5.61%), Gambia (1.18%), Ghana (7.80%), Guinea (2.68%), Guinea-Bissau (0.31%), Liberia (7.43%), Mali (7.70%), Niger (1.83%), Senegal (1.23%), the Manor River Union or MRU (7.45%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (6.79%), Africa (5.65%), North America (6.36%), South America (1.08%), Asia (1.`9%) and the world (4.54%). However, Percentage increase in total infections was higher in Ivory Coast (9.78%), Nigeria 8.47%), Togo (13.61%) and Europe (8.04%) compared to Sierra Leone.
Moreover, percentage increase in Coronavirus deaths was higher in Sierra Leone compared to Ivory Coast (0.85%), Gambia (0.29%), Guinea (0.77%), Niger (0.74%), Nigeria (1.54%), Senegal (0.21%), Togo (1.64%), MRU (0.73%), ECOWAS (1.43%), Africa (1.13%), South America (0.27%), Asia (1.15%) and the world (1.51%). Percentage increase in deaths was higher in Burkina Faso (7.43%), Ghana (2.79%), Mali (2.97%), Europe (2.69%) and North America (1.70%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Liberia recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.
However, percentage increase in recoveries was lower in Sierra Leone compared to Burkina Faso (4.35%), Ivory Coast (0.85%), Ghana (0.78%), Mali (17.13%), Nigeria (1.24%), ECOWAS (1.28%), Africa (3.70%), Europe (6.04%), North America (2.22%), South America (0.78%), Asia (1.25%) and the world (2.83%). Percentage increase in recoveries was lower in Cape Verde (0.33%), Gambia (0.55%), Guinea (0.14%), Guinea-Bissau (0.21%), Niger (0.45%), Senegal (0.49%) and MRU (0.59%). Togo (0.66%) recorded the same percentage increase in recoveries as Sierra Leone. Benin and Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
