SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (09/10/20)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.79% and 0.59% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s increase in total cases was higher compared to Ivory Coast (0.25%), Gambia (0.53%), Guinea (0.58%), Liberia (0.07%), Mali (0.66%), Nigeria (0.46%), Senegal (0.34%), Manor River Union or MRU (0.38%) and the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.45%). However, increase in total cases in Benin (2.29%), Burkina Faso (1.74%), Cape Verde (2.97%), Togo (1.82%), Africa (1.13%), Europe (3.39%), North America (1.61%), South America (1.47%), Asia (2.03%) and World (1.96%) were higher compared to Sierra Leone. Ghana, Guinea-Bissau and Niger recorded zero increase in total cases.

Cape Verde (4.41%) recorded the highest increase in total deaths compared to Gambia (1.74%), Guinea (1.79%), Senegal (0.32%), Togo (2.08%), MRU (0.29%), ECOWAS (0.30%), Africa (1.25%), Europe (0.88%), North America (1.77%), South America (1.16%), Asia (1.76%) and the World (1.40%). Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Burkina Faso (4.08%), Cape Verde (2.90%), Liberia (0.73%), Mali (0.81%), Niger (0.63%), Nigeria (0.89%), Senegal (0.99%), Togo (1.14%), Africa (1.39%), Europe (1.65%), North America (1.83%), South America (2.01%), Asia (2.35%) and the World (2.02%). Increase in recoveries in Ivory Coast (0.31%), Gambia (0.40%), Guinea (0.15%) and MRU (0.29%) were lower compared to Sierra Leone. ECOWAS (0.59%) recorded the same increase in recoveries as Sierra Leone. Benin, Ghana and Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
