The latest batch of presidential appoints have subscribed to the oath of office as the final step to assume their assignment in the ‘New Direction’ government.
A total of seven officials, including deputy ministers of Finance and Health and Sanitation, took the oath of office in front of President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Wednesday.
Also subscribing to the oath were new Commissioners of the Local Government Service Commission.
Mr Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura was sworn in as Deputy Minister II in the Ministry of Finance, while Dr Amara Jambai was sworn in as Deputy Minister II in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
Mr Donald Augustus Ngegba is the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, and he will be working with Mrs Nyilla Oathman, Mrs Janet Jabati, Mrs Sia Alice Bockarie Torto and Mr Jacob E. Quee as Commissioners.
The Local Government Service Commission, which was established in 2004, is tasked with the responsibility of providing regulatory, performance management and management functions to the system of decentralised government as provided for in section 38 (1) of the Local Government Act of 2004.
While congratulating the appointees, President Bio reminded them of the reason for bringing them into government - to serve the interest of the nation.
Bio, according to a news release from the presidency, also warned the new appointees that the task ahead of them was “an extremely difficult one” as his government was committed to delivering for the people.
Deputy Finance Minister II, Mr Bangura, was quoted committing to help the president fulfill his promises and vision as contained in the National Development Plan.
