A statement made by alleged Qnet fraudster, 24-year-old Shaka Mansaray, earlier to the Police, contradicted his denial in a court of receiving NLE 30,000 (Thirty thousand new Leones) from the complainant, Sinnah Aminata Kamara, for her travel abroad, a Freetown Court heard.
The written statement was read out to Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 on Monday 20th March 2023.
According to the statement, the accused denied all other allegations made against him by the complainant except for the NLE 30,000) which he admitted to having received from her.
However in a previous appearance last week, Mansaray had during cross-examination by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, denied receiving the NLE30,000, insisting all monies were paid to their Qnet office.
The accused was also alleged to have obtained NLE70,000 from the same complainant for the facilitation of her travel to Australia, but the accused denied the allegation as well.
He informed the court that he only did presentations on behalf of Qnet to clients on business plans in Wellington, Freetown.
Mansaray faces two counts of obtaining money by false pretence. He is among other eight persons accused of conspiracy to commit offence and obtaining money by false pretence.
