The Chairman of the Local government and rural development committee in Parliament, Musa Foday Fofanah, has said that he was pleased with the cleaning operations in Bo. His comments came following a visit to the southern region as part of an oversight mission of the Committee.
Fofanah said: "Parliament in the past eight months instituted a program to monitor the national cleaning exercise with reference to the presidential proclamation.”
Fofanah praised the level of coordination within the district and the deployment of security officials to monitor the enforcement of the cleaning exercise.
"We observed [that] the people are cleaning and the security is all out to enforce compliance,” he said.
Despite the praises, Fofanah said the challenge had been with coordination to dispose the garbage.
Councils have had challenge in coordinating haulage trucks to dispose the garbage that is generated during the exercise.
According to the Hon. Fofanah, the problem had been down to the lack of coordination between the councils and the relevant ministries.
He said himself and the committee were determined to succeed in fixing these problems.
"I am an Honorable, representing C4C. I want this government to succeed because we want other parties to support my party tomorrow if we are given the opportunity to govern,” he told journalists.
