Justice Bosco Alieu has remanded a 19-year-old man for allegedly breaking and entering the house of one Emmanuel Mohamed Kamara of Goderich and stealing Le 15,000,000 (Fifteen Million old Leones) and other properties.
The prosecution alleges that Jabati Gendemeh of Solo B Drive Goderich in the Western Rural District on 10th January 2021 also stole six pairs of sneakers valued at Le 2,100,000 (Two million one hundred thousand old Leones as well as other properties belonging to Alusine Edward Conteh in the same house.
The 19-year-old accused man was also accused of stealing one Techno Spark 5 mobile phone valued at Le 2,500,000 (Two Million Five Hundred Thousand old Leones), a property of one Michael Kanu of the same address.
Prosecution witness, Marie Kamara, wife of the complainant said on the 10th January 2021, she, her husband, and their children were on their way home from church when their neighbors started calling out the name of her husband telling him that the accused had again gone into their house to steal. She told the court that “my husband chased him while shouting thief! Thief! Thief! But he could not catch him”.
According to the witness, the family of the accused, which lives just opposite their house, helped to search for him, but could not find him. According to her, when they entered their house, they discovered that their belongings were scattered and that their money was missing.
The Prosecution Witness also informed the court that it was the third time the accused had entered their house to steal. She said the father of the accused who had acted as a guarantor on previous occasions that his son would never repeat his criminal activities in their premises was shown CCTV footage of the incident at the house, upon which he advised them to institute an action against him’
She said it was at that point that she called the Police. The witness said they joined the police to search for and arrest the accused.
