A man has narrated to a Freetown court how his entrusting of a motor-bike to one Mohamed Dumbuya for business ended in a fight without any trace of the bike.
The complainant Foday Samura told Magistrate Mark Ngegba at court no.2 that he gave his bike to Dumbuya for commercial transport business the accused instead handled it very poorly that it became useless, based on information other bike riders gave him. He said when he asked Dumbuya about his bike, he told him it was missing, though his colleagues told him the contrary.
He explained how upon confronting the accused and telling him of his lies, he got verbally abused instead and which degenerated into a fight. Samura said this all happened on Sunday 29th November, 2020 at Dwarzack junction in Freetown.
The accused person Dumbuya allegedly wounded Samura with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and on the same date, he maliciously wounded and assaulted the complainant in a manner that resulted to actual bodily harm.
At the Pademba road court, Dumbuya made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba on a three count charge of wounding with intent, assault, and bodily harm. He did not take a plea after the charges were read before him.
Defence lawyer Hassan Timbo, made an application for bail, saying Dumbuya is a Sierra Leonean and was a first time offender. He pleaded with the bench to grant his client bail to which Magistrate Mark Ngegba acceded, slamming a Le 30m bail and that a surety be made available who must be resident in Freetown and be in possession of a National Identity Card that should be forwarded to the Deputy Master and Registrar.
The matter which was prosecuted by Sergeant Hannah Newstead has been adjourned to the 23rd December, 2020 for the first prosecution witness to testify.
