Man convicted for offensive weapon

A man in his twenties has been convicted and sentenced to a fine of Le 2 million or 24 months in prison at Pademba Road in Freetown for carrying offensive weapons.

Sorie Mansaray made his third and final appearance yesterday, 23 September at the Ross Road magistrates’ court No.1 presided over by Abu Bakarr Binneh- Kamara.

He was facing a three-count charge of carrying offensive weapon, unlawful possession and loitering with intent. He was caught at Helina junction in eastern Freetown on Sunday 15 September this year.

In the same court, four persons accused of involvement in the Fourah Bay murder on 14 September made their second appearance and their matter was adjourned to today for further hearing.

They are under preliminary investigations for seven counts of conspiracy, attempted murder, murder, assault, wounding and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm. They are alleged to have killed Mohamed Lamin Sesay and Ibrahim Sankoh at the Oxley Grounds, Fourah Bay playing field.
