Following the ruling by the Supreme Court that the elections in June 2023 should be done using the District Block system, the people of Sorogbeima Chiefdom which is part of the former Constituency 101 called the meeting to tell the leaders of the SLPP that popular development worker and philanthropist Ibrahim Kawa should be included on the Pujehun district list among the 7 seats assigned to the district by ECSL.
According to the people, some of whom traveled from neighboring Liberia, his inclusion would make campaigning for the SLPP in that area easy.
Addressing the gathering in the chiefdom headquarter town of Fairo, Ibrahim Kawa pointed out that the fact that those who voted for him as an independent candidate in 2018 were now freely mixing with and accepting other people was a testimony to the fact that unity has returned to the SLPP. He described himself as a man of peace.
Kawa promised that if the party executives listened to the people and opened the way for him to enter parliament he would continue and even increase his development inventions in the area. He told the gathering that at present he is running a school with qualified teachers that are regularly paid. He said his motive is to make his own contribution towards the human capital development drive of President Bio.
He said despite all the disagreements in 2018, he decided to back president Bio to win the election and was prepared to campaign throughout the district for the re-election of the president and congratulated the people of that chiefdom for turning out in their numbers during the voter registration exercise resulting in one additional seat for Pujehun district.
