Police in Falaba district have arrested four people over the death of 41-year-old Ibrahim Jagitay in Kombili Town in Morifindugu Chiefdom, Falaba district after he was beaten up by the family of his spouse.
Jagitay, according to sources, had an encounter with his wife’s family when he went to see his children on Tuesday 28th September this year. The children had been staying with their mother following a misunderstanding between the separated parents.
Jagitay was reportedly chased away from the compound by the wife’s elder sister, Kadiatu Shaw and her husband. Woran Kambay a neighbor told Politico that Kadiatu then hit Jagitay on the back of his neck and almost dropped but had to be held up by Kombay.
The deceased's elder brother Mamad Jagitay also narrated how on the next day, his younger brother reported pain on his neck which later got worse and had to be taken to a health facility in Kombili, from where they were referred to the Mongo Community Health Centre.
Jagitay died on the way to the health centre on a motorbike. He said he immediately called and reported the incident to the Police Crime Officer who instructed him to take the corpse back to Kombili.
Four arrests were later made, all of whom are now helping the Police in Mongo the district headquarter town, in the investigations.
