The President of the football world governing body FIFA has congratulated the winner of this year’s Sierra Leone Premier League, Bo Rangers. Gianni Infantino stated in a letter addressed to the Sierra Leone Football Association that “this title could not have been achieved without the entire team’s hard work, passion and dedication and everyone at the club can be proud. Please extend my congratulations to everybody involved in this great achievement”.
The league was a two-horse race for the most part of the season with fluidity between Bo Rangers and East End Lions but the Bo side took the initiative and never let off in the final quarter of the campaign, after Lions who were leading at that time, started dropping points. They won the title by more than 10 points and with a far superior goal tally.
Securing the league trophy for the first time in their more than half a century history was a set-out goal for Bo Rangers much to the satisfaction of the club’s financier, businessman Babadi Kamara.
Meanwhile, Politico understands that Bo Rangers have written to the Sierra Leone Football Association indicating that they were ready to represent this country in the top continental football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football, CAF. Football federations on the continent have until the end of June 2022 to register their participants for the tournament.
