A man living at New Site, Lumley has taken his neighbours to ciyrt over allegations of insulting conduct directed at his wife and children. Fayarah Tarawally testified at the Freetown court no. 2 that he and his family were abused by a James Gborie and family with whom they live in the same compound.
Tarawally told the court that on Monday, the 26th October, he was inside his house between 8:00-9:00 pm with his family, when he heard a large noise at his veranda. When he came out to find out he saw some men climbing an electric pole and tried to stop them because he knew they were not supposed to climb it and they were not from EDSA but they refused. ‘’I never knew it was ( Mr) Gborie who sent the boys and to my surprise, he came out and started shouting at me.He told me that I am at his neck’’, he explained.
He said he told Gborie that he was not talking to him, but the boys, upon which the wife and daughter approached him and started insulting him. Tarawally said: “When I tried to explain to the wife, they started calling me names and threatened to burn down my house. (Mr) Gborie later told me that he would place a curse on my family and none of my family members would stay alive. When my wife came out, she found out that I was the one being insulted and they started insulting her. They called her a prostitute and abused her womanhood’’.
Tarawally also told the court that her daughter came out and asked why they were insulting them but was turned on and told she had aborted 11 pregnancies. He said his son was called a bastard and when he told them that he was a graduate and would not use abusive words against anyone, he was told that he bought his university degree.
Tarawally also narrated: “My wife’s sister was inside listening to the whole issue and later advised that we should take the matter to the police. I decided to bring the matter to court in order for them to tell me in court when my wife became a prostitute? Where and when did my daughter abort 11 babies? When did my son buy a university degree’’?
After listening to the complainant, Magistrate Mark Ngegba adjourned the case to 16th December 2020.
