The Cuban doctor who was diagnosed this week with Ebola while working in Sierra Leone has been flown to the Geneva under the aegis of the UN World Health Organisation.
Dr Felix Baez Sarria was yesterday flown to the Swiss capital onboard a private US airline after he had been receiving treatment at the Kerry Town Ebola treatment centre where he had been working.
The former military doctor who worked at the Havana military hospital suffered a high fever on Sunday and was diagnosed on Monday.
According to his brother, Michael Gutierrez Sarria “he saw someone who was falling and went to help them and it seems like that’s how he got contaminated”.
He was one of the 165 medics sent here by his country.
