Minister of Local Government, Diana Konomanyi has reacted angrily to criticisms levelled against her by some descendants of her native Kono district living abroad.
They blame the problems of the district on the political rivalry between her Vice President Samuel Sam-Sumana.
She gave her reaction while addressing Paramount Chiefs and other dignitaries from the 14 chiefdoms in Kono district during her donation of Le 35 million and some food items to the Kono District Ebola Task Force.
She referred to what she said were "negative" social media campaigns against her and other people who had donated to the cause of eradicating Ebola from the district.
“Ebola is killing their people while they are enjoying overseas," Diana said.
She did not point at a particular donation that was being criticised but said such statements were "disappointing", and that if the Kono Diaspora would not make any contribution to stamp-out the disease that's killing their people back home then “let them shut up and begin to appreciate the good work of others in the country,” she bellowed.
“With or without the help of WFP who had promised to be providing foodstuffs to Ebola quarantined homes and suspected Ebola cases, I will be making food available to the quarantined homes and suspected Ebola cases at holding centres in the district.”
