A senior Chinese government official is expected to arrive in Freetown on Thursday as special guest of the Sierra Leone government.
Yang Jiechi, who will be here from September 5 to 6, will be received at the Lungi International airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Tunis, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Communication late Wednesday.
The statement said Mr Yang is a special representative of the President of the Republic of China XI Jinping. The visit, it added, is aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries.
The envoy is scheduled to hold meetings with government officials, including President Julius Maada.
Mr Yang is a member of the Political Bureau of Central Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the office of the foreign affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.
