Bike dealer and proprietor of Shalimar Trading Sierra Leone, Mouss Mroue, has yesterday presented an ultra modern ambulance to the government through President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Making the presentation at State House, the country’s sole dealer in TVS motorbikes explained that the ambulance was worth $42000 (forty two thousand dollars), adding that it was a 2015 model from Japan.

Mroue said the ambulance had a life saving gadget inside that would enable it to provide immediate care to patients onboard including an Oxygen machine. He noted that the vehicle was brand new and added that the donation was his company’s support to the government in the fight against Ebola. He expressed hope that the ambulance would be used for its intended purpose.

He commended Sierra Leone government and its people for efforts exhibited in the fight so far and the determination to ensure that Ebola became a history in the country. Mroue also assured of his company’s continued support in the fight against Ebola, promising that they would also continue to provide support to quarantined homes.

President Sierra Leone Commercial Bike Riders Union (SLCBRU), David Sesay, explained that they had been in constant contact with the management of Shalimar to urge them to help the government in the Ebola fight. He added that the ambulance was part of their ongoing support to the government in tackling Ebola in the country.

He thanked the company for its support and assured of SLCBRU’s continued support in the bike business in the country.

Receiving the donation, President Ernest Bai Koroma stated that the fight against Ebola had not come to an end, observing that there were still cases of new infection in some areas of the country. He appreciated the bike riders’ union and the company for the donation and assured them that the donation would go a long way in tackling the crisis.

President Koroma also assured that he would hand the ambulance over to NERC for its use to be determined.
