Baby found in latrine

By Mohamed Massaquoi

The Police Family Support Unit in Pujehun town has confirmed the discovery of a seven-month-old baby in a pit latrine in Yikandor village in the Kpanga Karbondeh chiefdom, Pujehun district.

Constable Lahai Koroma told Politico that the baby was found alive by one Musa Kaitibie and the matter was reported to them on the 1 February this year by the town chief, Jusu Moibel.

He said that as part of their investigations, they arrested Kaitibie, who was said to have discovered the baby in the latrine and was now helping them with further details.

Koroma said all they knew so far was that a mother of twins called Tiangay Koroma had gone to a disco around midnight on the 31 January, leaving her sons at home. He said when she checked on her children one hour later, she noticed that one of them was missing.

He said that in her statement the mother said she had gone to the entrance of the disco centre and asked her neighbours about the missing child but they denied knowledge about the missing child.

Constable Koroma said that they were now trying to arrest the father of the children, whom he said was in hiding since the incident occurred.
