Influential football personality Babadi Kamara has resigned from his position as Team Manager of Leone Stars. He confirmed his resignation in Salone Players’ Watch (SPW) – a Whatsapp platform.
Reasons for Kamara’s resignation have not been immediately made public but it is likely to get the rumour mill in motion. He however personally denied on SPW, assumption that his action could be linked to him taking up political office in the near future.
He was Team Manager of the national team that qualified for the African Nations Cup tournament in Cameroon in February-March 2022, a return of the country to the continent’s most-celebrated football event, after a 25 year absence.
He is one of the most recognisable figures in Sierra Leonean football. He single –handedly took up the transformation of Bo Rangers Football Club from a relatively small, under –resourced outfit, to one of the most celebrated clubs at present. He’s built them a modern Club House in Bo, and an ultra-modern multi-million dollar stadium he constructed named Southern Arena (opened this year), is now venue for matches hosted by Rangers.
Kamara serving as also Chairman of Bo Rangers, saw the club for the first time in its history winning the premier league last year. Rangers as defending champions have continued their dominance, having already been confirmed winners of the ongoing league, with few matches left to play.
