The African Development Bank (ADB) has endorsed the awarding of contract to a Chinese company to undertake construction of the Kailahun-Buedu Road and given the all-clear for work to commence.
A correspondence from ADB addressed to the Director-General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) Ing. Amara Kanneh confirmed that the bank had reviewed the ‘No-Objection’ to the Bid Evaluation Report for Civil Works in respect to the contract “and observed that the subject procurement process’’ complied with the Bank’s procurement needs for the road project.
The successful bidding company China Henan International Cooperation Group Ltd.or CHICO will upgrade into asphaltic concrete, the 25 Km road, having proven according to the Bank to be the lowest evaluated substantially responsive bidder. The road will cost USD 20,783,074.20 (twenty million, seven hundred eighty –three thousand, seventy-four dollar and twenty cents. Buedu town is close to the Sierra Leone- Liberia Border.
