Regional Manager of the Anti-Corruption Commission office in Kono, has warned against misuse of funds meant to fight the Ebola virus disease and threatened huge penalty on conviction.
At a well-attended District Ebola Taskforce Committee meeting held at the government hospital in Koidu, Rev. Bob Kandeh strictly warned organisations and individuals handling such resources to use them judiciously and avoid being caught by ACC after the outbreak would have been eradicated.
“Some ill-motivated Sierra Leoneans will want to use the outbreak to enrich themselves at the expense of the lives of people”, he said warning that there would be no exception to government workers, private officials and local authorities.
He said they should not take advantage of the emergency situation of the outbreak, saying they would be called to account for monies allocated to them for the fight against the disease.
