Four accused persons have appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown for allegedly  assaulting and wounding  a local Chief in Waterloo, Alhaji Alimamy Sesay.

M’balu Turay, Alusine Kamara, Mohamed Kamara Turay, Hawanatu Bangura and Brima Sesay were in court on Friday 26th November this year to answer to four count charges of wounding, assault, threatening language and disorderly behaviour.

The Police Prosecutor Inspector Tejan Bangura led in Detective Police Inspector Mohamed Kargbo attached to the Homicide Unit, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown as a witness.

Kargbo said he recognised all five accused persons and that he recalled on the 11th January 2019 while he was on duty at the CID Unit Waterloo Divisional headquarters, a case and enquiry file of wounding was entrusted to him.

He told the magistrate that the file which has been in his care ever since contained an endorsed medical report form of the complainant, Chief Sesay.

The officer tendered the endorsed medical report of chief Sesay to form part of the court records.

He said on the 4th January 2020, a voluntary caution statement was obtained (VCS) from Brima Sesay by two colleague officers in his presence.

He explained how on the 7th January 2020, he and other officers obtained statements from all accused persons, who were charged for wounding and other crimes.

Police alleged that the first accused M’balu on the 11th December 2019 assaulted chief Sesay in a manner, thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.

They also alleged that all five accused persons on the same date at Four Mile Lorry Park, Waterloo behaved in a disorderly manner.

The police also implicated M’balu and Alusine on allegations that they use threatening language to provoke the Chief to commit the breach of peace.

The case comes up again on the 10th December this year, with all accused persons on bail.
