Police in Pujehun have confirmed the death of 35-year-old Sheku Conteh at Bandajuma in Barri chiefdom 36 miles to the Malema division headquarter at Jendema.
Speaking to Politico the detective crime officer attached to the division, Inspector Ibrahim Steven Bangura said the incident took place on the evening of the 7 December following a fight between the decease and 37-year-old Ibrahim Bao.
He said the deceased was beaten into a coma and later taken to the community health centre for treatment but could not survive.
Inspector Bangura said the suspect also complained of sustaining some internal pain and was equally taken to the same health centre for treatment but was discharged and was at present under police custody.
He said the fighting started when the seven-year-old daughter of the deceased killed a small chicken that belonged to the suspect and was beaten prompting the decease to beat up the suspect’s own child.
He said the file will be taken to their regional headquarters in Bo and that a murder charge would be pressed.
The late Sheku Conteh was married with two wives and five children.
