2 remanded for robbery

Magistrate Isata Sellu-Tucker of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has remanded Alpha Mansaray and Abdul Rahman Fofanah for alleged offences related to Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Robbery with Aggravation, Wounding with Intent, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

The prosecution alleged that the accused persons, Mansaray and Fofanah, on the 18th August 2022 at Angola Town,  Goderich, Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to rob properties valued NLe 182,000 (one hundred and eighty-two thousand Leones), belonging to Mohamed A. Kamara and Sajah Bundu, the complainants.

It was alleged that on the same date and place the accused also conspired with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit.

The police also stated that the accused, on the same date and place wounded and assaulted the complainants in a manner there causing  them grievous bodily harm.

They were arrested on Thursday 6th September 2022 by Detective Sergeant 16955 Kamara L.

In his testimony on Monday December 5, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hawa Bah, Police Inspector Saidu Kamara, attached to the Lumley Police Station in Freetown, recalled the 18th August 2022 whilst on duty  Detective Police Constable (DPC) 16985 Koroma N. handed over to him one damaged old brief case, one green and black colour bag, one Nike black and white footwear, one camouflaged  facemask, one old black pistol, one wooden cutlass, one iron bar, and one grey trousers.

He said he registered the items with various exhibits and kept them in police custody waiting for the court to demand for them. The items were produced and tendered to form part of the court records.

Under cross-examination, the first accused, who is without a legal representation, asked the witness if the complainants ever told him (the witness) the items were taken from him. The witness said that the items were only given to him as exhibits for this case.

The witness was also asked if there were thumb prints provided to him from the said items or exhibits. The witness however responded that his responsibility is to register any exhibit brought before him that is under investigation.

No re-examination was done by Prosecutor Bah, and the matter was adjourned to the 13th December 2022.
